Geithner waited 2 days to tell Obama about AIG bonuses

March 18th, 2009

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A new timeline released by White House officials late Tuesday evening reveals the president first learned about the $165 million in AIG bonuses last Thursday, days before the story leaked to the media over the weekend.

The new timeline was released after White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said he was unaware of when President Barack Obama first learned of the bonus controversy and reporters asked that the White House provide a timeline. It also shows that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner first found out about the bonuses from his staff last Tuesday.

It was not until the following day, after 6 p.m. Wednesday, that Geithner called AIG’s CEO Edward Liddy to “express outrage” and say the payments were “unacceptable,” according to the timeline released by White House officials

100 Days in Charge!!

This is ridiculous.

Supposedly, the Bush administration “forced a false choice on the country between science and faith.”

Apparently, the Board believes that Obama, a self-proclaimed “person of faith,” is not forcing a false choice. Why should Obama’s belief on the morality of destroying human life for research be considered divine revelation?

Obama’s faith-filled decision is being forced on the country just as surely as Bush’s was. What’s the difference?

It’s wrong to say that President Bush didn’t allow science to proceed. He fully supported pursuing stem cell research and dramatic progress in the field was made during his administration.

What the Board and others fail to note is that there were no government restrictions on any sort of stem cell research. This has always been about the amount of FEDERAL FUNDING for embryonic stem cell research. There was no ban on the research. The private sector has always been free to fund it.

Talk about falsehoods!

Science doesn’t need government to proceed.

Pushey Obama!!!

February 11th, 2009

He has his opponents in Congress, but President Barack Obama is stressing the need to settle the stimulus issue—and fast. On Monday, in his first major news conference since assuming office, Obama warned of economic troubles ahead and presented the stimulus package as a possible way out.

Boston.com:

“This is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill recession,” Obama said. “We are going through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.”

The president said he is “absolutely confident” the nation can overcome this crisis, but he warned that the government, business, and consumers must change their ways. He also declared Republicans who oppose his massive spending plan on ideological grounds should not engage in “revisionist history,” noting their party presided over a doubling of the US debt and helped create the ailing economy he inherited.

The first and most critical step, he said, was for Congress to approve his economic stimulus package, which he said would put more money into the hands of consumers, encouraging them to spend money, and which would create jobs in both the public and private sectors.

Obama can’t use a blackberry??

February 6th, 2009

From President Barack Obama’s Super Bowl Sunday interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer:

“It’s like Inspector Gadget. If you touched it, it might blow up. It turns into a car if I have to make a quick getaway.” When Lauer asked about who has the coveted number, Obama said he wouldn’t give it to Lauer but he might give it to Lauer’s young son Jack, prompting Lauer to whisper, “Jack, give it to your pappa.”

From Obama’s remarks at the uber exclusive Alfalfa Dinner on Saturday night:

“In just the first few weeks, I’ve had to engage in some of the toughest diplomacy of my life. And that was just to keep my Blackberry. I finally agreed to limit the number of people who could email me. It’s a very exclusive list. How exclusive? Everyone look at the person sitting on your left. Now look at the person sitting on your right. None of you have my email address.” More on the Barack BlackBerry soon at 7comms
